+ Electric jackets take up the same amount of space as fleece jackets – and are warmer.
+ It's cold in Tennessee in May.
+ Scoring a time trial and having accurate, on-time results is tedious, but with a good system – its efficient.
+ The average bike racer has NO idea what goes into scoring any event.
+ Masters 35+ criteriums can be officiated on cruise control … speed – FAST
+ Junior parents don't know the rules
+ Garmin bicycle computers apparently make you faster than stop watches (multiple stop watches)
+ Tennessee bike racers are generally very well behaved
Great weekend, great mentoring – I actually learned a ton about officiating!

Yeah, I did timing for our provincial CX series last fall. There's a lot to it, but when things are working, and the organizer provides you with an accurate start list, it can be pretty smooth.
Junior parents don't know the rules…
Hmmmm, sounds like you met some over the top parents. Win at all costs, even if it's on technicalities.
+Dave Bartel I had a A level official showing me the details. Learned much.
+Marc Wilson no, this was just complete ignorance.
Electric jacket?
+Tom Ligman Yes, I have a heated jacket and vest for my motorcycle. While racers generate heat, officials lose it.
Yeah, if it's chilly out, sitting or standing in one place for a couple hours is bloody cold.
+Dave Bartel Now … jump on a motorcycle and ride around at 22 mph for 6 hours … brrr 🙂
Wait, so you're doing timing, but you're on a bike? That doesn't make sense to me, but alright.
I worked a TT, a Criterium and a Road Race in the past 48 hour – I'm sorry if I was unclear.
Ah, I was confused too — couldn't figure out riding a moto while timing!
